Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
